Brother and Sister sharing a Bedroom: Learn how to create the ideal bedroom for both

Decorating and organising a bedroom for two brothers or two sisters is already challenging for parents – doing so for a brother and a sister seems even more challenging!

There are ways to create the perfect bedroom for them to rest, study and play by avoiding any injustice or bias in favor of one or the other!

Just try the following tips…

  • Prefer neutral colours

Colours play a very important role in the atmosphere and the aura that exudes the room. To keep your son and daughter happy, you should select neutral colours, which are both bright and pleasant.

White is an ideal hue for such situations, as not only it blends harmoniously with both their worlds, but also visually enlarges the space, making it more spacious, as it can also be combined with infinite other colours on the furniture or in the corners of the room that are dedicated to each child.

  • Accept each child’s uniqueness

The biggest mistake you can make is to sacrifice the personality of one of the two children for the sake of the other: “but it is baby,” “but it is the oldest”, “It was their own room first!”

How can you respect the individual personality of each child?

Apart from the coexistence of their basic furniture, such as their bed (if it is a bunk bed), their desk and wardrobe, you have to make room for their personal items that have to do with the life, personality and hobbies of each child.

This, of course, requires space. To make the best out of it, try to take advantage of the room’s height, perhaps with bunk beds or with tall wardrobes that reach the roof of the room – provide easy access inside the wardrobe with a special mechanism or a practical ladder.

Another way could be to combine furniture into single structures: for example, beds with built-in hidden drawers and other storage compartments, or desks below the beds. Such structures often cover the entire side of a room and combine multiple needs in the same operating space, leaving more corners for each child’s personal hobbies and belongings.
