5+1 Superpowers to Teach our Little Heroes
Today marks the day of the National Superhero Day in many Western Countries. Who’s your favourite?
Most of us, if not all of us, identify with one of these amazing figures that can fly, have extraordinary powers, save the world, and enjoy the gratitude of mankind!
What educational value can all these have? We present 6 “superpowers” that we must teach in the hearts of our children, which will accompany them throughout their lives.
- The Golden Rule: Treat Others how You Would Like to be Treated
A superhero saves the world, but many times people reciprocate it with ingratitude. How will he manage to continue his mission?
The called “Golden Rule” that Jesus had taught, was that “you should treat others the way you want to treat you”. Our superhero has to learn, not only to be good to other people, but also to actively seek to do good by others, independent of their behaviour.
If nothing else, treat others as you would like to be treated, requires tremendous strength!
- Be Quick to Hear – Slow to Speak!
A true superhero knows to be a good listener, letting others express themselves without interrupting them and does not respond or talk before thinking of what to say.
- Help as Much as You Can Without Any Exchange
This is another superpower which is rare in the present time. It is great to teach our child to be different and help others as much as they can, in small and big issues, without expecting something in return.
- Second Place is not a Failure
In a world where being first has been deified, a superhuman strength is needed for a child to learn that one of the greatest things in life is effort and persistence, not being first and short-lived glory. Perfectionism is not a superpower, but a super-weakness, which can really make a child miserable.
- Being calm under pressure
We cannot always control what happens around us, but we can certainly control our response. If we succeed to teach our child to be calm even if they are stressed or is experiencing some stressful situations, they will develop the ability to be positive against any problems.
- Most of all, Believe in Yourselves
Perhaps, the most important superpower of the ones mentioned in this article. It should not be confused with excessive self-confidence or pride, but with a healthy feeling of self-esteem and belief that with effort and perseverance we can achieve great things!
All superheroes are shaken by trials sometimes! But when they return to their sanctuary, they find their strength and revive their faith in themselves.
