The need for organization is part of our DNA – especially in our personal space, where our soul wants to see it neat, clean and beautifully decorated. However, this inherent desire, like a beautiful flower or tree, must be cultivated to become a permanent trait of our character. And this cultivation must start from an early age.
Indeed, those who stand out for their organizational skills will tell you that their family environment has helped them develop them.
So we decided to find ways that you can educate your children to be organized, especially with their personal space – their bedroom.
Everything has their place
This is the basic principle, the foundation, we could say, of organizing your space. The sooner the children are taught this, the better. Any object inside the home must have a particular place, including the toys and any other personal belongings of your child.
Help your children acquire organization skills by suggesting a place for everything: for the cars, the dolls, the books and the notebooks, and so on.
Show what it means “To Arrange”
Do not think that because you know what it means for a room to be tidy, that your child automatically knows it too. Show them in practice, the meaning of the phrase!
How; Put labels on the cupboards or boxes to remind them of the right place for everything. Or use specific colors in the storage area to help them – green for toys, pink for books and so on.
Show Them How to Prepare Their Schoolbag
The more active your child, the more extracurricular activities they have and the more organized they must learn to be. Teach them how important it is to have a separate bag or backpack for every activity, such as English, sports, school, etc. Of course, you will need to supply sufficient materials to make such an organization possible.
Also, NEVER make the mistake of arranging their bags for them! Even when they are at kindergarten, show them how to arrange it themselves.
Be a Good Example
Do not make the mistake of thinking that a young child is also naive. If you tell them to be organized, while you are disorganized, they will quickly sense hypocrisy and imitate you. Give them, then, a good example of the importance of organization.
Make smart moves
Good organization also requires something more: plenty of storage space! Not necessarily large rooms, but certainly plenty of storage – something that is possible even if the child’s room is relatively small. The key is in the children’s furniture design!
